Bathrooms take a beating. They get steamy, messy, and worn down fast. At Helping Hand Handyman, we make look good and work better.
We recently helped a New Bedford homeowner with a new bathroom remodel. Their bathroom hadn’t been touched in over 20 years. Their goal was to make it modern, bright, and more practical—without spending a fortune.
What It Looked Like Before
The old bathroom was in rough shape with many original features dating back to when the home was first built. The floor was cracked and peeling, the tub was stained, and the sink area was too small. Plus, there was barely any ventilation, so it always smelled musty.
The Game Plan
After discussing with the homeowners, we came up with a plan that kept things affordable with an updated design and feel.
We added:
- A walk-in shower with subway tiles and a glass door
- A bigger vanity with soft-close drawers
- Waterproof vinyl flooring
- A better exhaust fan to get rid of moisture
- Bright LED lights and a mirror that doesn’t fog up
How It Went
We began the project by removing the old features and tore the walls down to the studs. Next, we updated the plumbing and wiring.
The new shower was a favorite—it has a handheld sprayer and a shelf built into the wall. The new vanity has a walnut finish, and a white quartz sink that’s super easy to clean.
The Final Look
The bathroom remodel feels clean and fresh with more space and better lighting. In addition to the new features, we paid close attention to the details—like caulking, trim work, and fixture placement—to ensure everything looked polished and professional. We also walked the homeowners through basic care and maintenance tips, so they can keep their new bathroom looking great for years to come.
